Abu Dhabi's mangroves are some of the calmest paddling in the country. Guided kayak and paddleboard tours run through the channels, where you can see wading birds, crabs and small fish.
Paris did not kayak the mangroves on the show, but he did plant mangroves at Jubail Mangrove Park, which explains why these forests matter: they protect the coast and store carbon.
Tips
- Go with the tide: tours are timed around it.
- Early morning or sunset is coolest.
- Take a hat, water and a dry bag.
- Keep your distance from wildlife and don't touch the roots.
