Dubai has two drop zones run by Skydive Dubai: the Palm drop zone beside Dubai Marina, with the famous view over Palm Jumeirah, and the Desert drop zone inland. Most first-timers do a tandem, strapped to an instructor. Paris took the longer road and learned on the AFF course at Skydive Abu Dhabi, shown in the episode above.
Weight limit and requirements
Skydive Dubai weighs every tandem guest at check-in, in clothes and shoes. These limits come from the equipment manufacturer, so there are no exceptions, and if you do not meet them you will not jump. Bring official photo ID such as a passport or Emirates ID. Anyone with the medical conditions on Skydive Dubai's list needs a doctor-stamped Declaration of Fitness.
Tandem or AFF?
A tandem is one jump with almost no training. AFF is a course: ground school, then a series of jumps in which instructors gradually let go, until you fly alone. In the episode, Paris practises body position in a 32-foot wind tunnel first.
