Paris learned to freedive for the episode above, then used it the old way, diving for pearls like the Gulf's pearl divers. Freediving is mostly about relaxation: a calm body uses less oxygen.

How people learn

Courses start with breathing and theory on dry land, then static breath-holds and shallow dives in a pool, then depth on a line in open water. Deep Dive Dubai lists freediving from age 13, from AED 900 (checked 30 Oct 2026); see Deep Dive Dubai.

The one rule

Never freedive alone. Blackouts happen without warning, usually near the surface, and a trained buddy watching you is what makes the sport safe.
